Golf

Take a round of golf on the local Slieve Russell golf course located 1 mile from Ballyconnell. This 7,053 yard par 72 course was host of the 1996 Smurfit Irish Professional Championship and a regular host to the Northwest of Ireland Open. Ballyconnell, the closest town is within walking distance and is a vibrant town. There are a wide variety of pubs and restaurants to chose from to enjoy a nice meal or have a drink and watch the world go by. The area of Ballyconnell also has many sites of archaeological interest such as Killycluggin which is located 4 miles away and also the fort of Ballyhugh located 3 miles away.

Visit the Ballyhugh Arts and Cultural Centre. The Arts and Cultural Centre is dedicated to the promotion and sharing of the rich cultural heritage of West Cavan. Ballyhugh runs courses and workshops in arts, traditional crafts, Irish music and dance, creative writing and yoga. Exhibitions, live shows, ceilis, concerts and lectures are held all year round. Acting as a guide for visitors interested in local history, the centre also houses a unique collection of artefact’s and local photographs.
